Tom Jeffords is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Asheville, NC, having earned his MSW from Simmons University.Tom holds a second Master's degree, concentrating on the Psychology of Culture, and completed a graduate certificate program in Applied Thanatology: Aging, Death, and Dying. He specializes in men’s health, anxiety, depression, spirituality, and supporting individuals through grief and loss.Tom has dedicated several years to specializing in a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, guiding patients to reframe perspectives, foster resilience, and conquer challenges. His focus is on empowering patients to embrace the complexities of the human experience by employing somatic-based treatments, nurturing the mind-body connection, incorporating polyvagal theory, yoga, Reiki, meditation, and reflexology.He nurtures a genuine bond with his patients, empowering them to effect positive changes in their lives and gain clarity about their unique internal experiences. Recognizing that establishing therapeutic trust is pivotal, he creates a safe environment that encourages transformation and growth.In this patient-centered therapeutic relationship, the therapeutic process is guided by the individual's goals and interests. It frequently integrates various modalities, ranging from reflective to solution-focused approaches and everything in between, viewed through the lenses of attachment theory and neurobiology.Prior to his mental health career, Tom held roles as a stage manager and stagehand, contributing to theatrical productions across various platforms, from regional stages to Broadway. Tom feels fortunate to call Asheville home, relishing the balance between the outdoor thrills of running and hiking, and the indoor delights of live music, personal writing, and quality time with pet-loving friends over delicious meals and engaging conversations.
